Sean Dyche must give up his persistence with Dominic Calvert-Lewin at half-time against Burnley after an awful first-half performance with Beto waiting on the bench.
Calvert-Lewin has been the topic of plenty of discussion and questions after his disappointing performances this season, but a goal against Newcastle provided some hope he might get back to his form of old.
Both Alan Shearer and Troy Deeney reached out with advice to help him put an end to his poor form, but their words are yet to show any sign of taking effect.
His goal did eventually come on the stroke of half-time in fortunate circumstances as the Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric’s attempt to play out from the back hit the striker and bounced in.

Despite managing to find the net, his overall influence on the game simply has not been good enough.

On top of that, he recorded a zero per cent long-pass success rate, losing possession five times and winning just 50 per cent of his duels on the ground with two of four won and in the air won five of nine attempted.
Calvert-Lewin also gave away a cheap free kick and was caught offside as he struggled to make an impact on the game, struggling to get in any scoring positions himself aside from the fortunate goal while also failing to bring any of his teammates into play or create chances for them.
With Beto waiting in the wings having scored two goals in his last four games, despite starting just two of those games, Dyche should surely turn to him at half-time to find some much-needed attacking inspiration in a crucial game for the club.
