Barcelona wanted to sign Mohammed Kudus before he joined West Ham last summer but were priced out of a move, according to Sport. The Spanish news outlet reported that the Catalan giants looked at the Ghana star after Ousmane Dembele left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain.But while Kudus was identified as a potential target, Ajax’s asking price was too high and they couldn’t afford a move which led to him moving to the London Stadium in late August in a deal worth £38m.West Ham United moved swiftly to get Kudus deal doneThroughout the summer there was talk of clubs like Brighton and Chelsea moving for Kudus, with big money mooted for a player who shone for Ajax in the Champions League last season. But the Hammers stayed alert to the situation and when it emerged that he rejected the move to the Seagulls, Tim Steidten moved quickly to bring him in.There were some suggestions that the club only moved to bring him in after it looked like Lucas Paqueta could be heading to Manchester City, but the deal still progressed when that fell through and the two stars have put together a brilliant partnership now. That situation could now rear its head again in the summer with Paqueta and Man City links not going away, but ideally Kudus is already a Hammer and clubs know it will take a mountain of cash to be able to take him away from the London Stadium.
