Kalvin Phillips’ West Ham career may be over already after the fans turned on him after failing to make a positive impact since arriving on loan in January.Phillips was an unused substitute in the Premier League clashes against Wolves and Tottenham, leading the former Hammers forward to insist he is not up to scratch with the rest of the squad.The midfielder joined on loan from Manchester City in January but has failed to make a positive impact at the London Stadium during his loan spell and could be set to leave without playing again.McAvennie – speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone – shared that he thought Phillips was “different class” and “would have loved” him to join the club a couple of years ago, but a lack of playing time changed things.“I thought it [Phillips’ West Ham career] was finished a couple of weeks ago. For me, he doesn’t bring anything to the team,” McAvennie shared.“You can’t bring players into a Premier League team when they’re not up to scratch. He’s not played properly in about three years. He can’t be up to scratch with everyone else.For me, he’s brought nothing. I like the guy, I thought he was different class and I’d have loved him to come in at West Ham, but that was two years ago and he’s not played since then. He’s a decent player, but unfortunately, it’s showing that he’s not played in a long time.He’s got to get back up to speed, but it’s not going to be at West Ham. Once the fans turn against you, that’s it, you’re in big trouble.
