There is a “war” between Everton and the Premier League over interest costs attached to the construction of the Bramley Moore Dock Stadium.That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that it is “very harsh” that Everton could get punished for interest fees when Tottenham were not.As revealed by Football Insider, small print from Everton’s two-point deduction shows that they face another hearing this summer after the Premier League challenged them over £24million of interest costs.The Merseyside club discounted the interest fees from their PSR calculations as infrastructure costs but the Premier League argue that they were only entitled to discount £2million and are therefore in further breach of regulations.A hearing is expected to take place over the summer and it could result in another points deduction for Everton ahead of the 2024-25 season.Everton face £24m war with Premier League over stadium costsMaguire explained that Tottenham’s interest costs attached to their stadium construction were discounted in PSR calculations and therefore it would be harsh on Everton if they are punished.It appears that there is an accountancy war between Everton and the Premier League over the treatment of interest relating to the construction of Bramley Moore Dock,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.It seems very harsh that they could get charged for this given that money was borrowed to fund the new Tottenham stadium.Spurs were allowed to add the interest charges to the cost of their stadium as opposed to going in their PSR calculations.So it does seem very harsh on Everton, but it seems as if the suits and lawyers are having a field day at the expense of fans.
