West Ham United technical director Tim Steidten will likely be handed more power at the London Stadium if David Moyes leaves, according to Sky Sports.
Hammers have already begun their search for a potential replacement for the Scotsman with recent results making it less likely he’ll remain in charge of the Irons.
Jolien Lopetegui and Paulo Fonseca are among those linked with a switch to East London this summer and should either candidate replace Moyes in the dugout, Steidten will take on a greater role, particularly in recruitment. When Moyes returned to West Ham in 2019, he was handed more control over transfer than in his previous stint, something that was scaled back when Steidten arrived at the club in the summer of 2023.
Will David Moyes leave West Ham United at the end of the Premier League season? It has been clear for some time now that Moyes has a lot the backing of most West Ham supporters, with large sections of the fanbase growing tired of the Scotsman’s defensive-first style of football.
However, the one aspect of the season that cannot be questioned at the London Stadium is the Hammers’ recruitment. Barring the poor loan signing of Kalvin Phillips in January, the Irons have barely put a foot wrong when it comes to signing players.
The likes of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos have been consistently good for Moyes this season and while the manager deserves some credit, most of the kudos lies with Steidten and his recruitment team.
Hopefully, the former Bayer Leverkusen man will continue his good work under a new manager and it can only be viewed as a good thing that he will have more control, especially as it seems increasingly likely Moyes will be leaving at the end of the season.
