Rangers are more likely to pursue a permanent move for Abdallah Sima than Fabio Silva this summer.
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Gers chiefs have been more impressed with the Brighton loanee’s output at Ibrox this season and are keen to keep him at the club.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that it is “more realistic” that the Gers try to get Sima on a permanent basis than Silva, who has been far less prolific.
Sima, 22, moved to the Glasgow giants on a 12-month loan deal last summer and has bagged an impressive 16 goals and two assists across 38 games in all competitions.
Rangers prefer permanent Abdallah Sima move over Fabio SilvaSilva, 21, joined on a six-month loan spell from Wolves in January and has notched just four goals across 19 appearances, with his last coming in Rangers’ 2-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win against Hibernian last month. It is believed that Philippe Clement’s side will attempt to keep Sima at the club.
Brighton value the Senegal international at between £10-15million, which could make him Rangers’ record transfer after Tore Andre Flo’s £12million move from Chelsea in 2000.
However, Sima has attracted major interest from across Europe after his exceptional spell in Scotland.
Sources have told Football Insider (11 April) that the forward is being monitored by several clubs from the Premier League and elite European sides.
Following a 13-game stretch out with a hamstring injury, Sima picked up another knock in Rangers’ Scottish Cup semi-final victory against Hearts on Sunday (21 Apri).
Rangers sit three points below Celtic in second place and most recently advanced to the final of the Scottish Cup.
They are back in league action away against St Mirren on Sunday afternoon (28 April).
