West Ham are open to suitable offers for Flynn Downes this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers are unsure about the 25-year-old’s long-term future at the London Stadium.

The midfielder is currently on a season-long loan at Southampton, having joined West Ham from Swansea City in 2022.Downes has made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Saints, helping them clinch a Championship play-off place.

West Ham open to offers for loan starAfter progressing through the youth ranks and into the senor side at Ipswich Town, the midfielder joined Swansea City in 2021.

But impressive displays in his debut campaign earned him a switch to Premier League outfit West Ham, with Downes making 35 appearances in all competitions in his first season in claret and blue.

Manager David Moyes did, however, turn elsewhere for midfield reinforcements last summer, with James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez moving to the London Stadium as captain Declan Rice left for Arsenal.

Downes did help the Hammers lift the Europa Conference League trophy, but Moyes then decided to let the midfielder leave on loan for regular game time ahead of the new season.

The player’s future is now up in the air following his debut campaign with Southampton, where he has been heavily relied upon by Russell Martin.
