Clinton Morrison addressed some controversy surrounding Tomas Soucek’s “fantastic” goal against Luton Town in the Premier League.
West Ham came from behind to defeat the Hatters 3-1 at the London Stadium with Soucek lashing in their second with a 20-yard volley after James Ward-Prowse’s cross was headed clear.
However, Tahith Chong vehemently claimed he’d been fouled just before that sequence on the edge of Luton’s box by Vladimir Coufal, but Sky Sports pundit Morrison dismissed the midfielder’s pleas to the referee.
On Soccer Saturday (11 May, 16:28), he said: “The ball comes out it’s Soucek, and it’s a brilliant finish, but Chong’s gone straight over to the referee to say he thinks he’s been fouled.
“There’s no contact from Coufal. Ward-Prowse has whipped it in, it’s cleared, it comes to Soucek, a left-foot finish and he drills it past Kaminski into the bottom corner.”He concluded with: “It’s a fantastic finish. He won’t get that Chong, no chance.

The Hammers were 1-0 down inside six minutes, after Soucek and fellow goal-scorer James Ward-Prowse were caught napping in defence, as Albert Sambi Lokonga ghosted into the box to head past Alphonse Areola.
But Moyes’ final half-time team-talk at the London Stadium worked a treat for West Ham, who equalised through Ward-Prowse’s low drive on the rebound, and nine minutes later found themselves 2-1 up thanks to Soucek’s volley.
Chong’s protests that he was fouled in the build-up by Coufal fell on deaf ears, and rightly so as well. Were it up at the other end, VAR might just have had a look, but with next to no contact, the referee was spot on to call play on, and West Ham took full advantage.
Had a foul been blown the other way, West Ham looked increasingly likely to find a second goal regardless and given youngster George Earthy came off the bench to score with his first touch late on, the Hammers were well worth their 3-1 victory at full-time.
