Thomas Galdames is available for a cut-price fee as Rangers are linked with a move for the Chilean, according to the Daily Record.
The paper reported via their website on 29 May that with a move for fellow South American defender Jose Cordoba abruptly off [Rangers Review, 29 May] a possible deal for Godoy Cruz’s Galdames would be cheap due to the fact that the 25-year-old’s contract has just six months left to run.
Journalist Juan Esteban Suraci reported via Twitter on 28 May that his transfer abroad was already being finalised, with the Wednesday game against El Porvenir expected to be his last for the club.
But Una De Más’ Gonzalo Conti had reported the same day that Galdames has interest from Belgium as well as at Ibrox, so his next destination is yet to be confirmed.

There are decent arguments in favour of Leon Balogun’s contract extension given the 35-year-old’s strong form late in the season, but if the club had an extensive budget it likely wouldn’t have happened.
A move for Cordoba has come and gone in rapid succession, and while it is reported that it was the club’s decision to pull out of the £3million deal it doesn’t suggest everything is going to plan for it to collapse at a late stage.
It is a fact of reality that if Clement and Nils Koppen are going to strengthen all the areas that are required this summer then some deals will have to be of the bargain variety, perhaps explaining the interest in Galdames.
Whether the sudden decision to pull out of one move indicates the apparent replacement has a good chance of being completed remains to be seen, but whoever does arrive in defence needs to help address an inconsistent unit that has cycled through options in the past two seasons and only ever excelled sporadically.
