Joe Hart’s retirement leaves a gaping hole in the Celtic first-team that Brendan Rodgers will not be relishing to fill.
It’s already been well-documented how much of a leader he was and how Hart was so well-respected within the Celtic dressing room amongst his teammates.
Hart was a key player for Celtic over the last three seasons as his experience and skill helped Ange Postecoglou and then Brendan Rodgers continue the Parkhead club’s domination of Scottish football.
And now that he’s officially left the club, Cameron Carter-Vickers has shared the relationship he had with the Celtic icon as he completed media duties whilst away with the USA.
Carter-Vickers delivers ‘biggest compliment’ to Celtic hero We all know that professionally, Hart was immeasurably focused on the job he had to do for the team. But away from the pitch, Carter-Vickers shares how he got on with the former England international.
Carter-Vickers said [The Whole Delivery], “I’ve really enjoyed working with Brendan this year. And I think one thing he’s done really well kind of throughout the season, he’s kind of keeping us as a group calm and confident.
“I think in Glasgow there’s a lot of talk and it’s easy to get sucked into being negative or maybe losing your head a little bit.
“But the one thing he’s done really well is kind of keeping a calmness to the group.
And Joe is such a great guy. Really enjoyed playing with him in the last few years. A great leader. And the biggest compliment I can give him is he’s such a great person.
He’s always there to help his teammates and hopefully I’ll stay in contact with him after he retires.
”It’s clear Hart really loved his time at Celtic. He spoke so passionately about the club, the fans his manager and his teammates whenever he took media duties after he announced his retirement.
Now about to embark on a punditry career, Hart will continue to be able to impart his knowledge of the game from our screens but there is no doubt, listening to Carter-Vickers, the US defender is clearly going to miss the treble-winning stopper.
