Chelsea could be willing to trigger the release clause of a talented striker on their radar this summer.The Blues do have Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku as good options in the squad to play as the No 9, but neither are classed as out-and-out strikers.Chelsea could trigger release clause for strikerThe Evening Standard has now claimed that Chelsea have a ‘strong interest’ in signing RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko this summer.It is explained that the Blues are confident they can rival Arsenal for the 21-year-old’s signature, with both clubs said to be in a good position to get him.The report mentions that Sesko has a £56m release clause in his contract with German Bundesliga club Leipzig.Apparently, Chelsea may be willing to trigger the release clause for the young centre-forward. As for Arsenal, they may try to negotiate a smaller transfer fee.It’s stated that Arsenal have had encouragement that they’re in pole position for Sesko, but it won’t put off Chelsea if they decide to ramp up their interest.The Mirror says that Leipzig star Sesko is favouring a move to Arsenal over rival potential buyers such as Chelsea and Manchester United.Benjamin Sesko impressed last seasonIn his first year as a Leizpig player last campaign, Sesko made his mark in German football and showed why he’s a wanted man this summer.He scored 18 goals in 42 matches across all competitions. It’s worth noting that he finished the Bundesliga season by scoring in seven consecutive league games.At the age of 21, Sesko looks a physically imposing striker with great strength and pace. It’s certainly easy to see why Premier League clubs are fighting over him.For Chelsea, Sesko could be a great option in the No 9 position.Described as a player with “huge potential” by Marco Rose (Bundesliga website), Sesko may be worth the full £56m release clause.
