Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy on the transfer front in wake of a decent maiden season for Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian guided Spurs to fifth place in the Premier League and a spot in the Europa League for next season.

Postecoglou has laid some solid foundations at Tottenham and they’ll be eager to kick on next season with a strengthened squad.

We’re also likely to see outgoings from Spurs, with some players appearing surplus to the manager’s requirements.

One of those is Djed Spence, who has struggled to make an impact at Tottenham since joining from Middlesbrough back in 2022.

Spence has made just six appearances for Spurs and has been shipped out on loan three times while on the Lilywhites’ books.

The 23-year-old spent the first half of the 2023/24 campaign at Leeds United, but struggled for game time before returning to Tottenham and going out on loan to Genoa.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update which suggests a permanent move away from Spurs could be gathering pace.

The transfer insider took to X on Thursday night to say: “Understand Genoa have sent formal bid to Tottenham to sign Djed Spence.

“Negotiations ongoing between clubs, now up to Spurs with final decision to follow soon.”

Djed Spence appears close to Tottenham exit
Djed Spence joined Spurs to considerable fanfare after shining at Nottingham Forest in 2021/22, his efforts helping the East Midlands side return to the Premier League.

However, the “unbelievable” talent simply hasn’t managed to make his mark at Tottenham, and now it looks as though he’ll finally be able to get his career back on track.

It’s a shame that things haven’t worked out for Spence, but clearly he’s a talented player and looks like he’ll have a bright future in the game.
