Daniel Friedkin’s potential takeover of Everton this summer has come as a “shock” to those back in Rome, according to iNews.

The online source reported on Tuesday (18 June) that, while the American businessman’s desire to buy the Toffees is “nothing new”, it has left many people surprised back in Roma.

According to Il Messaggero [16 June], Friedkin has already completed the takeover at Goodison Park, with only an official announcement missing before Farhad Moshiri offloads his shares.

“While there has been shock in Rome that the Friedkins have moved for the Toffees their desire to buy an English club is nothing new,” they wrote.

Until the takeover is completed and announced, speculation will continue to swirl around Goodison Park, so fans will keep a close eye on proceedings ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Fans have been the real sufferers throughout the recent takeover saga, left in the dark as 777 Partners attempted to finalise their bid after several months of back-and-forth before a spectacular fail.

Friedkin, on the other hand, looks set to bring an extensive field of knowledge and wealth to Goodison Park, also bringing his current experiences with AS Roma with him.

Moshiri has often been slated for his decisions, and even his lack of communication over the last few months, though it seems the owner is finally about to make a positive decision for the club’s future.

It has been reported, as per Corriere dello Sport, that Friedkin will invest over half a billion pounds into the Toffees once his takeover is complete, easing the worries around PSR and helping to rebuild Sean Dyche’s squad.

His takeover at Goodison Park could mark the start of a new era for the Evertonians, though fans will not be getting carried away until everything is confirmed.
