Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted swapping Romelu Lukaku plus cash for Victor Osimhen is the “perfect” solution for Chelsea.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested Lukaku and £70million could be enough to deal a deal with Napoli.

It has been widely reported that Napoli are in discussions with Chelsea to sign Lukaku, with negotiations also ongoing about a deal for Victor Osimhen to head in the opposite direction.

The Blues striker fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel and has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy.

Meanwhile, Osimhen is expected to quit Napoli this summer with Paris Saint-Germain also interested.

Lukaku swap deal is ‘perfect’ way for Chelsea to sign Osimhen, says Wyness
Wyness insisted the Nigeria international is one player “people want to see” in the Premier League.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Osimhen’s release clause is £110million.

“He’s a very exciting player, I’ve watched a lot of him in Italy.

I’ve been hearing that Lukaku to Napoli could be the makeweight to get Osimhen to Chelsea.

“I’d been hoping he would come to the Premier League, I’m very excited to see how he does.

“He’s one of the players who will keep eyeballs on the Premier League because people want to see him.

“Chelsea would do very well to get him.

Lukaku, being a Chelsea player for a long time, I think he’s the perfect solution.

“If you’re valuing Lukaku at £40m then that would leave a gap of £70m to the break clause, but he’s worth the money.
