Everton’s former chief, Keith Wyness, has suggested that Chelsea’s best move would be to trade Romelu Lukaku plus cash for Victor Osimhen, calling it the “perfect” solution. Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who served as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, proposed that Lukaku along with £70 million could seal the deal with Napoli.

Reports have surfaced about ongoing negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea regarding Lukaku, with a potential swap for Osimhen being a key part of the discussions. Lukaku has fallen out of favor at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel and has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy.

On the other hand, Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain also showing interest in the Nigerian striker. Wyness believes Osimhen is a player fans are eager to see in the Premier League.

“Osimhen’s release clause is £110 million. He’s a very exciting player, and I’ve watched a lot of him in Italy,” Wyness remarked. “I’ve heard that Lukaku to Napoli could be the makeweight to bring Osimhen to Chelsea. I’ve been hoping he would come to the Premier League, and I’m very excited to see how he does. He’s one of those players who will keep eyeballs on the Premier League because people want to see him. Chelsea would do very well to get him.”

Wyness further explained, “Lukaku, being a Chelsea player for a long time, is the perfect solution. If you value Lukaku at £40 million, then adding £70 million would meet Osimhen’s release clause. He’s worth the money.
