Everton’s takeover situation is a mess at the moment, but admittedly, it has been for so long now.
In fact, most fans are numb to the unbridled chaos going on behind the scenes, having been subjected to bidding wars, collapsed deals and unfit owners for well over 12 months now.
Sean Dyche is another seeking to put this turmoil behind him, and thus far has operated with remarkable poise in the face of such unrest.
However, there could now be a light at the end of the tunnel in a long-term suitor of the club who has finally made his move to assume control.
How Dan Friedkin is impacting John Textor’s Everton takevoer
Combing through a wealth of transfer rumours, attention eventually had to turn to the takeover saga, which has dragged on far longer than many would have hoped.
Starting back in September with 777 Partners, we at last seemed to have a conclusion when Dan Friedkin had moved into the strongest position to actually assume control.
However, with him having backed out, and John Textor entering into an exclusivity agreement for Everton, we have a new frontrunner.
But, before he can achieve success, he must still overcome one Friedkin-related hurdle, which journalist Graeme Bailey warned of when speaking to Everton.News: ‘Textor, obviously we knew he wanted it after he did that interview.
‘It’s hard isn’t it, because the fact that… I’ve been told that Friedkin walking away has frightened a few people off.
‘There’s clearly something in the books that doesn’t sit right, because he’s a good owner. I said before, I’d be excited for Everton to get him. I think it’s the lack of guarantees over the loans that 777 have got. I think there’s issues there.
‘It could’ve been worse, they could’ve taken over!’

With 777 Partners the first really serious party to enter negotiations with Farhad Moshiri, it is now the Miami-based firm who are still plaguing the Toffees to this day with their truly ridiculous amalgamation of various debts.
In fact, this is what drove Friedkin away, with the American only really showing his face after 777 Partners’s deal began to break down.
However, prefacing this was John Textor’s glowing recommendation of Everton as a takeover proposition, as he noted: ‘Everton represents the best of English football: the struggles, the glory, the want.
I love that it’s out of London. Everybody should want to buy Everton right now. That kind of club is what I’m referring to. How great would it be to take one of these great English clubs back to sort of glory?
Now with the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is, it will be interesting to see whether Textor is also deterred when he sees what is beneath the surface.
