Jonathan Rowe has informed Norwich City and his representatives that he wants to move to Marseille over Leeds United, according to HITC.

The outlet reported via their website on 20 August that the English winger has his heart set on the Ligue 1 side and the Whites are set to miss out on a prime attacking target.

Roberto De Zerbi has apparently “twisted the 21-year-old’s arm” to convince him the French side is the best place to continue his development.

Leeds have made two bids for Rowe but neither reportedly met the £15million asking price, while West Ham and Crystal Palace had talks but never made an offer, leaving Marseille ready to seal the deal.

Daniel Farke to miss out on Leeds United target
Crysencio Summerville completed his move to West Ham on 3 August and it has taken almost three weeks for the Whites to seemingly now miss out on the man who emerged as the prime target to replace him.

The writing was increasingly on the wall when an opportunity to jump ahead of Marseille and Monaco emerged [Santi Aouna, 13 August] and progress wasn’t made.

Rennes are said to be ready to join the race and outbid everyone [Alan Nixon, 20 August] so there is obviously scope for the situation to change still until anything is sealed.

But the 49ers are going to need to react quickly as interest in bringing Jack Clarke back to the club from Sunderland looks unlikely to be successful when the Black Cats are insisting on a record fee because of a sell-on due to Tottenham [TEAMtalk, 19 August].

Stoke City’s Million Manhoef has been named as a fall-back option if the Rowe pursuit fell through [TEAMtalk, 14 August], and it seems that is now the case.

But with four signings needed before the deadline for Daniel Farke [The Athletic, 16 August] time is fast running out to get that business done.
