Sheffield United are reluctant to let Wolves target Anel Ahmedhodzic leave the club before the 30 August deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blades see the 25-year-old as a key cog in their bid to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (19 August) that Wolves are monitoring the centre-back’s situation at Bramall Lane.
Sources say the Molineux club, who see him as a natural Max Kilman replacement, are ready to test Sheffield United’s resolve with a bid for Ahmedhodzic.
However, Gary O’Neil’s side are struggling to find the funds to complete their ideal transfer business before the deadline.
They are set to prioritise a centre-back signing in the coming days but could struggle to meet Sheffield United’s valuation of Ahmedhodzic despite the disparity in leagues.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has played 90 minutes in both of Sheffield United’s Championship fixtures this term.
He was also a regular for Sheffield United last season as they were relegated from the Premier League.
Ahmedhodzic’s contract at Bramall Lane is set to run until June 2026.
Wolves lined up with Toti Gomes and Yerson Mosquera at centre-back in their 2-0 loss against Arsenal on Saturday (17 August).
O’Neil’s side also have Santiago Bueno and Craig Dawson on the books at Molineux.
