Everton or any other club are not yet close to securing the services of Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable transfer news expert claimed on 23 August that the Englishman’s agents are set to explore several options for the 32-year-old.

His staying at St James’ Park also cannot be ruled out with explorative talks ongoing.

Romano told Give Me Sport: “Kieran Trippier’s agents are gonna explore several options for their client, but there’s nothing imminent on this one at the moment.

“Trippier can leave but guys, let me be clear, he could also end up staying at Newcastle in case they don’t find a good solution.

“It’s about explorative talks now, nothing close with Everton or any other club yet.

Everton need to convince Kieran Trippier to move to Goodison Park
Offering him a significant role in the team, possibly as a first-choice right-back or even a leadership position, could appeal to Trippier’s ambitions for regular first-team football and leadership influence, which seems to be waning at Newcastle.

The Toffees could highlight their project’s vision under Sean Dyche, emphasising stability and a clear path to success, which might resonate with Trippier’s career stage where legacy and consistency become crucial.

Additionally, a move closer to his family in the North West could be a personal incentive.

Financially, Everton might need to match or better his current wages, demonstrating their commitment to him.

Lastly, by showcasing the potential for European football or the club’s ambition to climb the league table, the Toffees could present a compelling case for Trippier to join, offering both professional growth and personal comfort.

However, they’ll need to move quickly given his agents are already working hard to find ideal suitors.
