Everton could be about to land a seriously impressive signing before the transfer deadline next week.
Sean Dyche has already seen his side bolstered with some big names having also left the club over the course of the summer.
The Toffees were faced with the dreaded PSR deadline back in June which saw the likes of Ben Godfrey sold to Atalanta.
Since, Everton have sold Amadou Onana in a £50m sale to Aston Villa which will certainly have done the spreadsheets no harm.
But there have also been arrivals at Everton despite Dyche’s refusal to hand out more than one debut on the weekend in the defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.
And it seems as if there could be another arrival on his way to Goodison Park which has reallt excited Paul Merson.

This summer has seen Everton clamour for more attacking options having struggled so much in front of goals last season.
However, Everton are also in need of a new right-back before the deadline with an injury crisis in the defensive position.
And one player who Everton are now showing an interest in is Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier who could be allowed to leave Tyneside before the close of play next week.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Saturday afternoon [12:12 pm], Merson has admitted he would be seriously impressed if Everton could secure Trippier’s signature.
“It’s a great signing for Everton. It will be an unbelievable signing for Everton if they got Kieran Trippier,” he said.
“He is an international, plays for England, I am a big fan of his. I think he is a very, very good footballer. He can play on both sides and his set plays, you know. Everton are not going to open teams up for fun every week, so they have got to rely on scraps.
“When you have someone who can put the ball on a sixpence like he can, it can only help and Everton are very good at set pieces. He is a good signing.”
Everton at crisis point at right-back
The issues for Dyche at right-back have now hit a new low with Ashley Young’s red card in the game against Brighton the last thing he needed.
Everton have no senior right-back options available for Saturday’s game away to Tottenham Hotspur with Heung-min Son surely licking his lips at the prospect.
Roman Dixon could potentially be handed his debut if Dyche does not get smart with switching players around at the back.
But with injuries to Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson, the Blues really could do with another recruit before the end of the window next week.
