Everton want to sign Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana and a swap deal could be on the cards with the London club keen on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to Harry Watkinson.

The TEAMtalk journalist reported on 30 August that a swap deal may now be on the cards if Chelsea miss out on Ivan Toney and Victory Osimhen.

Fofana moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023 for a £10.6million fee, per talkSPORT.

Watkinson wrote on X: “Chelsea are interested in Calvert-Lewin and could consider a late swap deal if they miss out on Toney + Osimhen. EFC have shown interest in David Datro Fofana and won’t let DCL go unless they sign a striker. My feeling is that DCL stays but time will tell.”

David Datro Fofana could thrive at Everton
If Calvert-Lewin has made up his mind to leave and agrees personal terms with Chelsea, the Toffees have no choice but to accept his decision.

Signing Fofana as his replacement will not be like for like but it may benefit the Merseyside outfit significantly.

Fofana could represent a promising acquisition for Everton, particularly given his profile as a young, dynamic striker with experience in both the Premier League and abroad.

His loan spells, especially with Union Berlin, showcased his ability to adapt quickly to high-pressure environments, evidenced by his impressive statistical performance in the Bundesliga.

This adaptability could be crucial for the Toffees, who are looking to bolster their attacking options amidst a challenging start to the season.

The Ivorian’s physical attributes, combined with his capability to link play and run in behind defences, align well with Everton’s need for a forward who can both score and create chances.
