Leeds United’s Championship rivals Burnley are the subject of a rumour that star player Mike Tresor has become unsettled at Turf Moor after a failed transfer to Dutch giants AFC Ajax.
Burnley were obliged to pay a £15 million transfer fee for Tresor this summer after triggering an obligation in his loan deal from KRC Genk, however attempts were made to send the Belgian out on loan during the final stages of the summer window.

Reported talks between Burnley and OGC Nice, as well as Ajax broke down, leading Tresor to share a cryptic post on his Instagram story this week, appearing to show his disdain through the medium of a meme.

The Dutch market remained open until midnight on Monday, September 2 while Tresor’s post appeared on social media the morning of Tuesday, September 3.

The 25-year-old winger’s representatives were reportedly engaged in late talks with Ajax, according to Belgian media, but could not strike an agreement therefore the player remained at Burnley.

Leeds host the Clarets at Elland Road in just under two weeks in what could prove to be United’s first real test of their promotion credentials this season.

Whether Burnley decide to take action against Tresor given his social media activity remains to be seen, although the player is yet to be named in a matchday squad under Scott Parker this season, casting doubt over whether he would have even made an appearance in LS11 for Leeds’ visitors on 14 September.
