Serie A duo Genoa and Parma are interested in signing Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, according to Milan Live.

The Italian source reported [7 September] that both Genoa and Parma are “ready to bet” on him during the January transfer window.

Parma have been the most impressive of the newly promoted sides so far this season, sitting in ninth place, while Genoa are one place below, taking four points from the opening three matches.

Could Leeds United lose Wilfried Gnonto in January?
Gnonto’s departure would be an incredibly difficult loss for the Whites to take, especially given Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter’s moves elsewhere this summer.

The aforementioned duo combined for 25 goals and 24 assists in the Championship last term, and while the young Italian winger only notched eight goals and two assists in the league, he is now Daniel Farke’s main man.

At 20 years of age, he is already pushing the team forward, leading by example, which looks to be a drastic change from handing in a transfer request at Elland Road last summer.

Leeds are set to be so dependent on his attacking prowess this season, with the hope of gaining promotion to the Premier League, that they texted him on international duty to check up on a potential injury worry [Tutto Mercato Web].

While Gnonto will be flattered by the interest, he is unlikely to move to one of the smaller Italian top-flight clubs when he is leading the fight to take Leeds out of the Championship.

Despite the up-and-down nature of his career at Elland Road so far, the winger has become a fan favourite and nobody will want to see him leave in January, especially not Farke.

Of course, the introductions of Largie Ramazani from Almeria and Manor Solomon from Tottenham have taken some of the attacking burden off the young forward, but he is an integral part of the Leeds squad.
