Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn is turning into quite the signing after joining the Bhoys from Rapid Vienna back in January.
Arriving for £3.5 million, the former Germany Under-20 international encountered an early setback in Glasgow due to unexpected problems following dental surgery.
Losing weight over a small burst of time, Kuhn suffered from elevated levels of fatigue that limited the scope for him to make an impact at Celtic in the early stages of his career.
Not to worry, he has since recovered and established himself as a key cog under Brendan Rodgers, kicking on this campaign with three goals and four assists in his opening seven appearances.
Ahead of Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup quarter-final tie against Falkirk, Kuhn has revealed how his teammates and staff at the club helped him stay on track.
Nicolas Kuhn’s grateful Celtic message
Speaking ahead of Falkirk on Sunday, Kuhn has re-iterated that any early complications are now behind him as he continues to showcase his capabilities on the right-hand flank.
He stated [Celtic FC]: “I knew if I’m fit, I will play well. The team, the coaches, the staff, they helped me a lot. I’ve said a lot of times, when I came in, it was a little bit difficult for me, but now I’m feeling good.
Asked about enjoying featuring more regularly, he continued: “Of course, when it’s going well, it’s really nice. Now I’m settled in, I just feel well, so the performances are coming from myself.
It is great to hear that Kuhn is feeling himself and is ready to continue his best form over the coming months. Starting the campaign with vigour, you get the impression he could be a leading light in the Bhoys’ pursuit of success.
Sometimes, players need a little bit of time to settle themselves in a new environment. Football throws up challenges along the way, not everyone can hit the ground running instantaneously.
Hopefully, Kuhn can now drive on and ensure nobody is in contention to claim his berth out wide. Celtic are in an exciting place; there is a lot more to come from Rodgers’ side as a collective.
