Brendan Rodgers is blessed with a number of talented players at Celtic who young players like Adam Idah can learn from.
It’s easy to forget that Adam Idah is still only 22 because of the way he plays and how he carries himself he looks and sounds like a player beyond his years.
During his loan spell, the Republic of Ireland international was brilliant for Celtic scoring nine goals as he helped Brendan Rodgers to another Scottish Premiership title and a Scottish Cup.
Now back at Celtic permanently, Idah admits that there is one ‘unbelievable’ player he is learning from as he looks to develop his game at the club.
Kyogo Furuhashi is Idah’s Celtic ‘role model’
Idah is in direct competition with Kyogo Furuhashi for a starting spot in Celtic’s matchday lineup. But despite that, the Irishman says that he enjoys a friendly contest for that place and reveals how he is also learning from the Japanese striker.
Idah told the Daily Record, “Look, I’ve got a job to do and that is to score goals, whether I start or I’m on the bench it doesn’t really matter in my head.
“I want to score as many goals as I can this season, just like Kyogo. He’s an unbelievable player, and I don’t think it matters to him whether he’s starting or on the bench, we both have the same aim and that is to score goals and help this team. I think we’ve got off to a pretty good start this season.
“Do I think that we bring the best out in each other? Yeah, definitely. It’s friendly competition. It’s the same in training, we’re always working hard and there is no bitterness between us.
We’re friendly with each other and he helps me just like I help him. It’s great, he’s a good player to look up to, a good role model, and I can learn a few things from him on the pitch too.”
Kyogo is more than a striker at Celtic now
Kyogo has been superb for Celtic since he made his £4.5m transfer from Vissel Kobe back in the summer of 2021.
With 75 goals and 16 assists, Kyogo has picked up three league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups for Celtic.
Now 29, Kyogo is at the perfect age to mentor younger players at Celtic and it’s great to hear from Idah that that is exactly what he is doing now.
With two top strikers at Celtic and the team performing well, this could be a big season for Idah as he looks to pay back the huge fee the club shelled out to land him in the summer.
