Luke McCowan is living every Celtic supporter’s dream right now.
Joining the club on transfer deadline day, McCowan was Brendan Rodgers’ last signing of the summer window as the Celtic boss put the finishing touches to his recruitment for the season ahead.
The former Dundee captain is a self-confessed Celtic fan and McCowan has already surprised many with his performances for the Bhoys.
McCowan’s enthusiasm at joining his boyhood heroes is clear to see and former Celtic midfielder, Stilyan Petrov, has shared what he told the 26-year-old when he met him after he made his big move to the Glasgow giants.

McCowan made his Celtic debut against Rangers and since then he has never looked back and here, Petrov shares what he said to McCowan when he met him after he joined the club.
Petrov told The Sunday Post print edition page 7, “Luke just seems to smile every single minute. We can all see how happy he is to be playing for Celtic.
“He has made significant contributions on the park and has already scored for Celtic. He is heading in the right direction.
“I had the pleasure of meeting him a few weeks ago and he was buzzing. I told him to enjoy these special times and to relax.
He has wonderful ability and he will be an asset to the team this season, for sure. It must be great for Brendan to have so many good options.”
Luke McCowan’s impressive stats for Celtic
McCowan has made four appearances for Celtic this season and has pretty much made every one of them count.
Impressing in his debut against Rangers, McCowan then went on to score against Hearts in Celtic’s 2-0 win and helped change the game for Rodgers in the hard-fought victory over Ross County.
Labelled as ‘one of the best’ players in Scotland by Malky MacKay, in the 337 minutes he has played for Celtic and Dundee this season, McCowan has averaged a 7.51 rating by football stats site, Fotmob.
Running Celtic’s midfield in the friendly win over Sligo Rovers, McCowan is certainly showing that he is not phased at playing for the current Scottish champions.
And if he continues to perform the way has done so early in his Celtic career, Petrov is correct, McCowan will be a big player for the Bhoys in the future.
