The arrival of Paul Tisdale at Celtic will help to bring a new dimension and strategy to not only the club’s recruitment but also the development of young talent at the club.
The addition of Tisdale as Celtic’s Head of Football Operations was announced this afternoon as the club looks to support Brendan Rodgers’ recruitment and help to improve the progression of young talent from the Academy to the first team.
Now that the former Exeter boss has been officially unveiled, Celtic Chief Executive, Michael Nicholson and Rodgers have both delivered their thoughts on the new addition to the Hoops’ backroom set-up.
Nicholson identifies Paul Tisdale’s Celtic ‘strategy’
Nicholson is clearly happy to get his man and immediately set about explaining exactly what Tisdale will bring to the club.
Nicolson told the official Celtic FC website, “We are delighted to appoint Paul as Head of Football Operations, and we are sure he will bring a new dimension to our work.
“Talent identification and talent development, from our Academy through to our first team, is of fundamental importance to the club’s strategy, and Paul has tremendous expertise in these areas.
“We are certain that he will bring great experience, energy and innovation to what we do, working alongside Brendan, our football manager, Chris McCart Head of Academy and our excellent wider football staff, to bring further development and success to the club.
Brendan Rodgers hails Paul Tisdale’s ‘crucial’ role at Celtic
Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers seems equally delighted at the appointment and explains how he has already built up a relationship with Tisdale prior to his arrival at the club.
Rodgers added, “I am so pleased that we have been able to bring Paul to the club in this important new role and I am really looking forward to working with him.
“He is a hugely talented man who I know will make a real positive difference to us and give us a new edge.
“He knows modern football inside out, he understands what we need as a club, what our team needs to operate at a high level, and how we can develop positively and successfully across a number of functions within the club.
I have known Paul for some time and have been well aware of his work. I know that he will be a huge asset to Celtic and that his knowledge, talent and tremendous work ethic will be crucial to us as we drive forward across a number of areas, always with the aim of delivering higher performance and more and more success.”
As Rodgers says, if the appointment of Tisdale can give Celtic a ‘new edge’ then it can only strengthen the club’s already dominant position in Scottish football.
With the club already having an effective player-trading model in place, hopefully this new appointment can streamline it to help deliver a better signing success rate than what the Celtic fans saw last summer and allow our talented youngsters to filter into the Hoops first team.
