West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus missed a penalty for Ghana against Niger with his own supporters celebrating the miss after they failed to qualify for AFCON.
With a ban preventing the 24-year-old from featuring for West Ham currently, Kudus had the opportunity to rekindle his form on international duty on 18 November but missed from 12 yards in the 2-1 defeat.
Ghana were awarded a last-minute spot-kick to draw the game level on Monday but Kudus saw his effort saved, with Ghana supporters celebrating the miss fromf their own player.
Journalist Saddick Adams experienced the moment and took to X to express his disgust at the incident.
In the X post after the game, he said: “Ghana fans chanting “away” as Kudus steps to take a penalty vs Niger. The fans celebrate as he missed. The highest form of disapproval I’ve experienced.

With what happened against Niger, Kudus’ confidence will have inevitably taken a huge hit. Having your own supporters celebrate a missed penalty is sickening.
Ultimately, Ghana as a whole were poor throughout the qualifying campaign, failing to win a single game against the likes of Sudan, Angola and Niger, resulting in them missing out on a place at the AFCON.
Evidently, Ghanian supporters have become frustrated with the levels of performance demonstrated by their national side with Kudus facing the brunt of it.
Kudus was unable to provide any difference for his side in several under-par performances, similar to those demonstrated at West Ham so far this campaign.
The Ghanian has registered just two goal contributions in the eight Premier League appearances he has made this season although has shown flashes of quality throughout them.
With that said, the Hammers are a much better team with him and his ban received for his involvement in an incident against Spurs has certainly been felt in the encounters since.
The Irons have a tough run of fixtures coming up with a trip to Newcastle followed by an encounter with Arsenal and failure to pick up points could be detrimental to the future of manager Julen Lopetegui who remains under pressure.
The Hammers find themselves sitting 14th having won just three of their opening 11 Premier League fixtures since the arrival of Lopetegui.
