Luke McCowan’s move to Celtic in the summer is one that took the Parkhead support by surprise this summer.
Celtic were busy on transfer deadline day and the £1m capture of McCowan capped off a very good transfer window for Hoops boss, Brendan Rodgers.
Since then, McCowan has gone on and made an impact not only domestically but also in the Champions League with Celtic.
It seems that Dundee boss, Tony Docherty, is feeling the pain of losing McCowan to Celtic as he laments his current injury issues at Dens Park.

Docherty is looking ahead to Dundee’s fixture against Hibs on Saturday and speaking about losing two players to injury, the Dens Park gaffer shared how losing McCowan to Celtic has hit his team hard.
Docherty told The Courier, “On the back of losing my captain Joe Shaughnessy, my vice-captain Trevor Carson (both to injury) and then Luke (McCowan, to Celtic) – I’ve lost three captains. That’s difficult.
“Luke had a huge influence in the dressing room.
“It is difficult to replace that, but there are good, good ones there.
The timing of it as well. At the start of the season we were absolutely flying, we’d scored the most goals in Scotland.
“Luke was a big part of that, so when you take that out of your team it’s hard to replace.”

Docherty is clearly hurting at losing a player of McCowan’s quality to Celtic but, to be fair to the Dundee gaffer, he has taken the loss well.
Docherty shared what he told the Dundee players after McCowan’s Celtic move as he credited his team for the part they played in getting the life-long Celtic supporter his dream move.
The Dundee boss also complimented Celtic after they beat his side 2-0 at Parkhead this season calling the Hoops a ‘top, top opponent’.
And Docherty even admitted that since moving to Celtic, McCowan has just got ‘better and better’ as he highlighted improvements in his movement and game intelligence.
There is little doubt that McCowan is going to be a big player for Celtic this season and the fans will be looking forward to watching him improve even more under Rodgers.
