Everton have struggled for goals from attacking players at times this season, and one of them has now come forward and admitted he needs to contribute more.
One of Everton‘s big issues so far this season has been goals at the pinnacle of the attack.
The likes of Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been vying for the starting spot in Sean Dyche‘s XI, and to date, it’s been the latter who has come out on top.
However, Calvert-Lewin has struggled to ensure any consistency, scoring just two goals so far this season.
Beto has scored one in his limited minutes, whilst Iliman Ndiaye and Michael Keane have a brace, and Dwight McNeil sits pretty at the top of the tree with three to his name.
Armando Broja is edging closer to a return but Everton fans may have to wait a while yet, as it appears as if the plan is for him to get up to speed with a feature or two for the Under-21 side.
Interestingly, one attacker not mentioned has come forward and said that he needs to start contributing more for the Toffees moving forward.
Jesper Lindstrom says he needs to start contributing for Everton
Jesper Lindstrom joined Everton on a season-long loan in the summer with an option to make the deal permanent for around £19 million.
He’s gained the trust of Sean Dyche in recent times, starting the last two games in the Premier League.
However, he’s yet to get off the mark in the goals column and his only assist came against Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Trophy back in August.
Lindstrom’s performances have been fairly bright to be fair to him, but he clearly sets high standards as he recently came out and vowed to improve.
Speaking on the Everton YouTube channel, he revealed his desire to contribute more.
“I feel like Everton is perfect for me at the moment to get back on track and to yeah score some goals, I need to score some goals, to make some assists, to be like more dangerous. Because I feel like I have had the performance to do it, so I just need to do it.”
Jesper Lindstrom is a breath of fresh air at Everton
Lindstrom has only been at the club for a few months, but he already comes across as such a down-to-earth and brutally honest footballer, which isn’t always the case.
Everton’s loss to Southampton is the perfect example, as Lindstrom came out after the game to slam his teammates for their display.
It’s this kind of honesty that has been missing from Sean Dyche in press conferences this season.
Whilst he hasn’t really done enough to warrant Everton paying the £19 million just yet, the early signs are certainly promising if he can start to contribute more moving forward.
