Everton return to Premier League action this weekend as they take on Brentford at Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche’s men are in desperate need of three points as they languish in 16th place, three points above the relegation zone.
The Merseysiders picked up a point in a goalless draw against West Ham United last time out and they lacked real creativity in attack.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been misfiring whilst Beto continues to be handed short cameos off the substitute bench.
So there’s evidently a need for a prolific striker and fans hoped that would come in the shape of Chelsea loanee Armando Broja.
Though, he’s been sidelined through injury and is yet to make his Everton debut – but that could change very soon as an update on his condition emerges.
Armando Broja will miss Brentford clash but close to return
Armando Broja joined Everton on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
The young forward has been sidelined through an achilles injury and is yet to make an outing so far this time, though he has been in training.
But, according to the Liverpool Echo, it is anticipated that Broja will be exposed to the Under-21s before challenging for the senior squad.
The reserve side are in action on Monday, so it looks as if fans will have to wait to see him in the first-team.
Everton don’t have to pay for Broja’s loan at the moment
Whilst Broja remains unavailable, Everton don’t have to start paying Chelsea for his loan.
It’s understood The Toffees have an option to buy Broja for around £30m, though, it’d take a prolific second half of the season for that to be activated.
Although, with Calvert-Lewin out of contract at the end of the season, Everton will be in the market for his replacement, anyhow.
So there could be a long-term future for Broja, who earns around £78,000-a-week, at Goodison Park.
