Celtic are in Champions League action tomorrow night against Club Brugge as they look to cement their place in the knockout playoff phase of the competition.
Brendan Rodgers has gathered seven points from the Bhoys’ opening four league phase matches, setting the scene for a quartet of clashes against Dinamo Zagreb, Young Boys and Aston Villa.
Nevertheless, the Celtic boss will have his eyes peeled to limit the opposition’s main threats tomorrow, which should be hard to identify after their thumping win last weekend.
Christos Tzolis scored four in Club Brugge’s 7-0 victory over Sint-Truidense V.V to continue his excellent start this campaign that has yielded eight goals in two assists in 20 appearances.
Ahead of the clash, the Greek international has explained why he is beaming with confidence and expanded on the way the opposition camp are feeling heading into the tie.
Christos Tzolis expecting ‘difficult’ Celtic match-up
Speaking ahead of Brugge’s trip to Parkhead, Tzolis admitted that his side are expecting a ‘difficult match’ against Celtic, but he is unsurprisingly feeling confident after a four-goal splurge last weekend.
He explained: “We are 100% ready for Celtic. We have the right mindset for it. We have to be ready for a difficult match, but we just have to play our own game.
We have already shown the qualities we have at that level. I believe we have just played our best match of the season so we are full of confidence.
It is the first time in my professional career that I managed to score four times. I am very happy about that. I also appreciate that I was allowed to take the penalty too.”
Celtic will fancy themselves against Club Brugge
Nicky Hayen’s men are a serious outfit and should be taken at face value. Last season, Brugge reached the Europa Conference League semi-finals and they have also had previous Champions League success, so expect a difficult tie for the Bhoys.
Despite that, Celtic have to fancy their chances on a night where they could make history. After seeing off Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig at home, they shouldn’t have any fear at the prospect of facing Belgium’s second-placed side.
The Bhoys could feasibly gain a passage through to the knockout phase with all three points. Everything is on the line, it is now up to Celtic to see another victory over the line.
