Auston Trusty has proven to be a solid piece of business for Celtic as the United States international continues to show his power alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers in central defence.
Joining from Sheffield United, the 26-year-old took a few matches to settle in under Brendan Rodgers before announcing himself in the Bhoys’ draw away to Atalanta on Champions League matchday three.
With Auston Trusty coming in at Celtic for £6 million, expectation was on his shoulders to come in and dislodge Liam Scales for a place in the backline.
Taking to his new environment, the former Arsenal man has managed to achieve that feat and is now on to 13 appearances in green and white, illustrating his domineering tendencies through a series of excellent displays.
Now, Trusty has opened up on what competition is like at Celtic and what he makes of his partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, Trusty made it clear that players fighting for jerseys help to create a ‘strong backbone’ in the dressing room as the Bhoys fight for silverware.
He stated, firstly on his own rise to prominence: “I play my game. I’ve come a long way, and during that process from since I was a little kid, you have to grow mentally, grow off the pitch and grow on the pitch.
“I’m at a place now where I’m extremely confident in my ability and pitting myself in positions. I’ve played in 32 games in the Premier League now, and I’ve played in the Champions League. I back myself 100%.
Later, he stated on competition and Carter-Vickers: “I think it’s a testament to the environment that they’ve created here; they have players in every position who can fill in and do the job, so that’s what you want for the coaching staff and as a teammate, you want people pushing you and a strong backbone to the team as well.
“To have two Americans playing together in the Champions League and playing in Scotland and making a partnership, I think it’s really good for the future and also for now too.”

Taking his transfer fee into account, it was highly unlikely that Trusty was going to be content sitting on the bench at Celtic.
Pointing out his previous experience, he has certainly lived up to his reputation as someone with Premier League credentials, bringing pace and power to the fold that opposition strikers have found difficult to overcome.
Hopefully, his confidence can continue to grow at Celtic and more clean sheets can follow amid a superb start to life in Glasgow.
