Celtic fans have a whole new outlook on the Champions League with Club Brugge coming to Parkhead tonight.
The Bhoys have recorded impressive wins over Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig whilst earning an impressive point away as Celtic drew with Atalanta.
The only blot on Brendan Rodgers’ Champions League report card was the Hoops 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on matchday two.
However, that loss in Germany is all but a distant memory with Celtic sitting on seven points and within a whisker of the Champions League play-off places.
With the Belgians up next for Celtic, who is better placed than Aston Villa to give their verdict on whether or not the Hoops can pick up another three vital points in UEFA’s top-tier tournament?
Aston Villa ‘confident’ Celtic can beat Club Brugge in Champions League
Reviewing the fixture, Mark Guidi was giving his opinion on Celtic’s chances against Brugge when he revealed what people at Aston Villa told him about the possibility of Rodgers picking up his tenth point in the league.
Guidi told The Go Radio Football Show [2m], “And we all know teams of that stature can come and hurt you very quickly. They’ll be good on the break. They’ll be compact.
“They’ll be organised. They beat Aston Villa, 1-0 albeit Villa played really poorly.
I spoke to a couple of people at Villa and they think tomorrow night, Celtic should beat them. Brugge was a competent team, but not a great team.
“So the Villa guys are confident that Celtic can win tomorrow night.
Club Brugge’s domestic form vs Celtic ahead of Champions League tie
Brugge is currently sitting in second place in the Belgian Pro League six points behind former Celtic striker, Hyeongyu Oh’s Genk.
The Belgian side has played 15 games in the league winning eight, drawing four and losing three. Brugge have scored 30 goals and conceded 16 with their biggest win of the season coming at the weekend with a 7-0 win over Sint Truiden.
Brugge is also in the quarter-final of the Belgian Cup after a resounding 6-1 win over Belisia Bilzen in the last round.
So whilst the Belgians won’t be an easy proposition, Brugge does leak goals and with the firepower at Celtic’s disposal, Rodgers has a great chance of pulling off another crucial Champions League win.
