Speaking on Open Goal, Dalziel shared his belief that Bernardo has a bit of ‘everything’ in midfield for Celtic, and he expects the Portuguese midfielder to grow into a key asset for the Bhoys.
He explained: “I thought the substitutions (vs Club Brugge) gave them a bit of life, but that’s what your substitutions are for if you’re making substitutions, to make an impact.
Bernardo, for me, I think Bernardo is one of these guys that given a run of games, I think he’s the next big one, I think he’s got everything in his locker, I think he’s top-notch, but you bring in an £11 million player.
“I know the price tag isn’t on the boy. I just thought he went with Engels at the start, and I don’t blame him, but I just think Bernardo gives Celtic something a wee bit different; I think he’s brilliant.”

Today, you would imagine his time will come for a slot in the line-up from the beginning, which could offer the perfect platform to convince Rodgers he deserves to be a permanent fixture in the engine room.
Arne Engels is in need of a rest, while Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor’s legs may be best saved for clashes to come.
Should Bernardo be given the call to start as suspected, hopefully, he can deliver a typically astute performance as the Bhoys search for another three points.
