Celtic’s win at Aberdeen did three things this midweek as Brendan Rodgers starts to widen the gap at the top of the table.
The first Celtic beating Aberdeen did was open up a four-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with the Hoops having a game in hand to boot.
If Brendan Rodgers can win that match then the gap goes to ten and it will extremely difficult for any team in the league to pull back that gap at this early stage of the season.
The second thing the Bhoys’ win at Pittodrie did was send a message to Rangers that if they want to be considered as serious title contenders then they need to do what Celtic did and go to Aberdeen and beat Jimmy Thelin’s side.
Rangers suffered a defeat on their last visit to Pittodrie and now languish nine points behind the current Scottish champions.
The third and final thing the win at Pittodrie did was equal a record set back in Brendan Rodgers’ first spell at Celtic many fans might not be aware of.

Celtic’s victory at Pittodrie was Rodgers’ tenth straight away win in a row in the Scottish Premiership. The Northern Irishman has swept all aside as he stamps his authority over every SPFL opponent this season.
The last time Celtic reached this landmark achievement was when Rodgers first took over at the club and he won an Invincibles Treble season.
The Celtic boss has taken care of Rangers at Ibrox, Hibs and Hearts in Edinburgh and now Aberdeen at Pittodrie as Rodgers’ defence of the title continues.
