Aberdeen supporters are taking to losing to Celtic just like their rival supporters from Ibrox. They were even using their bitter songbook on Wednesday night…
Aberdeen have been a breath of fresh air this campaign. They’ve started the season in fine form while playing some good football as they currently sit second in the table.
Bitter Together
Although I’ll not extend the courtesy to their supporters who have quite frankly rather bad losers, a bit like the supporters of the side who currently sit in third place and are challenging the Dons for the runners up spot in the Scottish Premiership.
The Aberdeen songbook was every bit as bitter as their Ibrox and Tynecastle counterparts on Wednesday night ad it makes Celtic winning at their middens all the more enjoyable.
And after our narrow win at Pittodrie on Wednesday night, the Aberdeen fans have done nothing but whine about certain selected ‘incidents’ on the night.
Celtic burst Aberdeen’s bubble at Hampden
I wouldn’t say we fully deserved to win, but we certainly didn’t deserve to lose, and a draw would have been an acceptable result on the night as far as Celtic are concerned. Given their recent form dip since we happened them 6-0 at Hampden, Aberdeen really had to win on Wednesday night to keep their title fantasy alive.
How Celtic’s class won the game as Reo Hatate took the one clear cut chance that fell his way, and that would prove to be the difference on the night. Aberdeen had one big chance near the end and as Neil Lennon said on Sky Sports he really should have scored.
Stats don’t lie
If there was going to be a winner then that would have been Celtic and not Aberdeen. Look at the stats:
So what exactly are the Aberdeen fans moaning about? No decision from the officials affected the outcome of the game in any way on the night as far as I can recall.
Kyogo didn’t intend to harm the goalkeeper, it was a fair and honest challenge from both players and the ball was there to be won.
Cameron Carter Vickers didn’t deserve a red card for his well time tackle on a Dons player in the second half.
Graeme Shinnie should have had a second yellow
These two ‘incidents’ received no punishment, because there was no offence to pursue. End of story. The Dons supporters are embarrassing themselves like their rival supporters from Ibrox by whining about such claims.
Incidentally the one decision that the on field referee got wrong on the night was his bizarre decision not to hand Graeme Shinnie a second caution in the final minute of the game.
Funny they don’t want to talk about that…
Another was that Duk chap hitting the ground repeatedly all night, getting young Valle booked for nothing at all and even diving to try to con a penalty out of Don Robertson – why no card for that?
