The Hoops No1 was in inspired form with some huge saves in the 3-0 win over Hibs at Parkhead.

The Hoops boss heaped praise on his No1 after a number of fine stops in the 3-0 win over Hibs. The visitors created some huge chances that they failed take with the Denmark international standing tall on more than one occasion.
The champions extended their unbeaten run in Scotland to 30 games and with that their advantage at the top over nearest rivals Aberdeen – who dropped points in a run that has seen them winless for five games. Schmeichel penned a one-year deal with an option when he arrived in the summer as Joe Hart’s successor and has been a top performer.
His future is simple for his boss, who he also worked with at Leicester City. He told BBC Sportsound : “I can trigger [the option for another year in Schmeichel’s contract] at any time; I wouldn’t tell you, I would tell him first.”
Arne Engels, Joe Newell’s own goal and a strike late on from Kyogo Furuhashi secured a 3-0 win over David Gray’s side – who slumped to the bottom of the league after a combination of the loss at Parkhead and city rivals Hearts winning – and Schmeichel delivered his views to Celtic TV post-match. He said: “Goalkeeping has evolved.
“It’s rare that you have games like that where you have a lot of saves. Everything is with your feet these days.
“I think that’s the role that I play here, but my job is to keep the ball out of the net and today was a good day. At the end of the day it’s all about winning. Clean sheets are nice but they’re not the most important thing.
“They’re not the end of the world, but it always gives you a platform to go and win. My job is to keep the team in the game and it’s up to this lot to go and finish the game off.
