Celtic cemented their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a win against relegation-threatened Hibs at Parkhead yesterday.
An eleven-point gap has opened up at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as Brendan Rodgers’ side continues their unbeaten domestic run this season.
Celtic started the game against Hibs very tentatively as Brendan Rodgers named a Bhoys team with four changes from the one that took care of Aberdeen midweek.
However, despite a positive start from the Easter Road club Celtic’s class eventually shone through after goals from Arne Engels, a Joe Newall own goal and a superb finish from Kyogo Furuhashi ensured David Gray and Hibs left Celtic Park empty-handed and rooted firmly to the bottom of the table.
Nicky Cadden rues ‘stupid’ Hibs after Celtic Park defeat
Reacting to the defeat, Hibs winger, Nicky Cadden, was really unhappy as he rued his team’s missed chances that could have seen a different outcome other than another defeat to a rampant Celtic team.
Cadden told Hibs TV, “It’s a hard one. I feel like we had very good chances today and to come away from not scoring a goal is very annoying and their keeper gets man of the match so I think that says it all in our performance.
“But we’ve lost stupid goals in our end. They’ve had four or five chances, and they’ve taken three of them and as you said there we’ve had nine shots on target and not managed to score any but it will come and there’s nothing to worry about, we just need to build on this performance.”
“We need to take the positives and also we need to look at the negatives as well. We need to look at the goals we conceded and take it from there because at the end of the day, we can’t be conceding goals like that.
But we are creating chances and obviously they are the best team in the league and we’re creating chances against the best team in the league.
“So that shows we’re a good team.”

Hibs boss, David Gray, sees his team sitting at the bottom of the table but he can take heart from the performance his side put in at Celtic Park.
And here, Cadden shares the Easter Road gaffer’s message to the Hibs players after the Celtic defeat.
Cadden continued, “It was pretty much what I’m saying right now.
It’s tough to take when we played so well here and they’re clinical and we’re not and we need to score more goals.
Yesterday’s win was Celtic’s 60th over Hibs from 97 meetings between the two clubs. You have to go as far back as January 2010 to see the last time the capital club last won at Celtic Park in a 2-1 victory.
Celtic’s dominance over Hibs is such that in 14 years, the Hoops have all won all but 12 matches against them and have tasted defeat on just five occasions.
For now, all of Celtic’s focus will be on Tuesday night where Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to take care of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
