The reaction to Celtic winning the League Cup has been rather interesting.
Going by how the media have played it and what pundits have said, you would think that Rangers won the penalty shootout and not Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Rangers played out of their skin and Celtic weren’t at their best, yet it was Daizen Maeda striking the killer blow and winning an enthralling final for his side.
But a lot of nonsense has been spouted post Hampden’s six-goal thriller.
From Rangers’ penalty cries to non-stop talk about how Philippe Clement’s side played well, even though they headed back to Ibrox empty-handed.
But Chris Sutton perhaps had to listen to the latest garbage being spouted about Celtic’s League Cup final win over Rangers.

Celtic hold a nine-point lead over second-placed Aberdeen at the top of the Premiership – and Rodgers’ side have a game in hand.
Added to that, they are a further 11 clear of Rangers ahead of their Ibrox visit on January 2, and that’s after winning the double last season.
Now that the Treble is on for Celtic – and their domination continues – Ian Ladyman claimed that it would have been ‘handy’ for Scottish football if Rangers had won.
But Sutton was having none of it and he slammed the suggestion by calling it ‘a load of rubbish’, including using Manchester City’s dominance in England as an example.
Ian Ladyman claimed: “I personally think it would have been handy for the Scottish game had Rangers won that final.”
Sutton screeched in embarrassment for his co-presenter: “Oooooh, what a load of rubbish. What an absolute load of guff. Why?”
Ladyman responded: “If you want a one-team league rather than a two-team league,” Sutton then interrupted: “It’s a cup competition.”
Ladyman added, with Sutton sighing in the background: “But you know that would have given Clement a bit of breathing space. It would have given Rangers a bit of confidence. It might have given them a bit of belief going forward. This is just going to kick them back in the opposite direction. If you think, by the end of the season in Scotland, it’s okay for Celtic to have won the league by 20 points, then that’s okay, with your Celtic hat on.”
Sutton then made it clear: “It’s nothing to do with the Celtic cap. We congratulate Manchester City for however many years. You don’t bat an eyelid with that because it’s Celtic, who are now the most successful club in terms of trophies 119. But you have to earn the right. That’s what you have to do.
Aberdeen doing what Rangers can’t
Forget about Rangers winning on Sunday to make it better for Scottish football, you could argue that Aberdeen are already doing that.
Remember, they are the ones sitting second in the league and they have already beaten Rangers this season.
Yes, their form has dipped and the gap is growing, but if they can pick up post-New Year, then things could become interesting near the top of the table.
But, as of now, Celtic hold a comfortable lead at the top and they have some huge games coming up over this very busy Christmas period.
