Ange Postecoglou could turn to a familiar face by signing Reo Hatate from Celtic in January, according to reports.

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered terribly with injuries during the Australian’s season-and-a-half in charge so far.

Right now, the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Richarlison are sidelined — to new a few — while Rodrigo Bentancur is also suspended from domestic play.

As a result, Spurs have been terribly inconsistent this season and despite reaching the EFL Cup semi-finals and remaining on course to reach the Europa League knockout rounds, they are languishing in 10th in the Premier League.

There’s no doubt Postecoglou will want to add some reinforcements during the winter transfer window.

Reo Hatate: Ange Postecoglou tipped to raid former club for Japan star

As of yet, Postecooglou has not raided the Celtic squad that he guided to two Scottish Premiership titles and three major domestic cups.

However, according to journalist Josh Hughes, that could change soon.

“The last midfielder I’m going to talk about is Reo Hatate,” said Hughes (via TBR).

“He scored one of the penalties in the shootout against Rangers. Ange knows and trusts the player, he does like a goal or two as well. He’s one I could certainly see happening. If Spurs go in with a reasonable transfer fee Celtic will find it hard to keep him.”

A 10-time Japan international, Hatate has played 112 times across all competitions since joining Spurs under Postecoglou in January 2022, notching 21 goals and 20 assists along the way.

Elsewhere, Spurs have once again been linked with United States midfielder Johnny Cardoso, with the club believed to have first preference on a deal with Real Betis.
