Celtic fans have long had to deal with snobbery from south of the border whenever it comes to their success on the park being critiqued.
Celtic’s trophy history shows the long and illustrious record of trebles, a European Cup win and two nine-in-a-row achievements which have crowned the Hoops as Scotland’s most successful club.
However, those achievements are not taken seriously by many down south as they see the Scottish Premiership simply as a two-horse race.
So when a Man City, fan tried to use that as an excuse for his own team’s failures in the league this season, Celtic hero Chris Sutton wasn’t having any of it as he sent him a serious Champions League reminder about his old club.

Despite beating West Ham 4-1 yesterday, Man City are languishing 11 points behind Liverpool at the top of the English Premier League.
Despite having resources that vastly outstrip Celtic, the English club is lagging behind the Hoops in the Champions League as a City fan tried to defend his team’s domestic season by having a swipe at Celtic.
Sutton told BBC 606 [54m], “It’s not all about money bags, Manchester City [when challenged about paying to watch his son at Roxham], it’s about non-league, proper football.
Fan: “Well, look, we’re still in the Champions League. We’re still in the FA Cup.
Sutton: “I mean, Celtic are above you in the Champions League. The Champions of Scotland are above you in the Champions League.
Fan: “Champions of what? What? Oh, the two-team league in Scotland?”
Sutton: “Oh, hang on a minute. Hang on a minute. So is it a title race in England this season?”
Fan: “Well there’s two teams in Scotland.”
Sutton: “There’s one in England and that’s Liverpool. Five points clear, two games in hand, blimey.
“But just imagine if Celtic and Rangers wasted all the millions and millions of pounds as the clubs in the Premier League have done.
Fan: “I agree, Chris, I agree, but the thing is you have to play good football to attain that. You have to have a good competitive league to attain it.”
Sutton: “And you are still behind Celtic in the Champions League?”

Celtic are currently in 21st place in the Champions League after the Bhoys drew with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia last month.
Currently in the unseeded play-off places, Celtic are one point ahead of Man City who sit 22nd on eight points after six games played.
Liverpool tops the table with 18 points with six wins followed by Arsenal in third place on 13 points. Aston Villa who are due to play Celtic this month are also on 13 points in 5th place.
Considering the vast budget available to all four English teams, Brendan Rodgers is doing a great job in ensuring Celtic hold their own among Europe’s elite clubs this season.
