Celtic’s 3-0 defeat to Rangers on Thursday was the first body blow Brendan Rodgers’ side have suffered this season.
It gave those from Ibrox something to cheer about given the misery Celtic have put them through for over a decade now, including winning the League Cup at Hampden last month.
But it didn’t last long because Rangers recorded a 3-3 draw at Hibernian for the lunchtime kick-off on Sunday and Philippe Clement was brought back down to earth pretty quickly.
Not that the Bhoys needed it, but it provided everyone inside Parkhead with a spring in their step as they beat St Mirren 3-0 and moved 13 points clear at the top of the table.
One man who was at Easter Road to watch Rangers let a 2-0 lead slip was Chris Sutton and he couldn’t help but poke fun at the Gers after the game.

This is now a case of by how many points will Celtic win the title by and perhaps that win for Rangers is a blessing in disguise for the champions because it keeps Clement in a job and what a job he is doing!
After bottling yet another game, Sutton couldn’t help but laugh on social media as he stated that ‘it’s ok beating Celtic but Rangers needed to back it up’, before telling everyone that he was off for a ‘lie down’.

It was easy work for Celtic against St Mirren, as the manager rang the changes and made a few big calls for the match.
From dropping Liam Scales and Reo Hatate to starting Luke McCowan in midfield and bringing Auston Trusty back into the fold.
It paid off and Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland after the match that he is ‘very happy’ with his side’s 13-point lead at the top of the table.
“I think that’s what it is,” said Rodgers, “It’s just stage posts along the way and being at the halfway point from a pre-season, which has been great.
“From the European campaign which has been fantastic to winning the first cup of the season to then arrive at the halfway point in a really good place and then to add that lead. Of course that makes us very happy.
