David Moyes returned to Everton on a two-and-a-half-year deal on Saturday – now another Goodison Park return could be on the cards.
The Blues announced the return of Moyes via their official website (11 January) after The Friedkin Group acted to end Sean Dyche’s tenure on Thursday (9 January).
However, Evertonians would blow the roof off Goodison Park should Richarlison follow Moyes back through the doors at Finch Farm after Daily Mirror reporter Darren Lewis confirmed Tottenham would be open to a sale on the Last Word on Spurs podcast (10 January, 1:02:17).
He said: “If [Spurs] got a good offer for him, my understanding is that the club would sell because he just can’t stay fit.
“Yes, when he is fit, there is a player there, but you need someone who you can rely on.
It has previously been implied by Jamie O’Hara that an Everton return could be on for Richarlison [talkSPORT], having flopped in North London.
Everton should try and re-sign Richarlison from Tottenham
Richarlison has quite simply not reached the heights he achieved at Everton and looks unlikely to do so into his third season at Tottenham.
In hindsight, the Toffees came out on top in the £60million deal to send the Brazilian to North London, with only 16 goals and nine assists contributed in 73 appearances for Spurs.
The 27-year-old has been teetering towards another transfer for over a year, and while Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers poured cold water over talk of a potential return last summer, his stock has plummeted further since.
According to Santi Aouna (11 January), the Blues are close to reaching an agreement with Lyon for the signing of Ernest Nuamah, the same player who rejected a move to Goodison Park last summer.
A deal with the Ghanaian international reached the final stages before he pulled the plug, wasting the time of all involved, so why bother again?
Richarlison retains a cult-hero status at Everton and is still a beloved figure on the blue half of Merseyside, and better yet, the sentiment is clearly shared.
He knows the Premier League and the Blues inside and out – TFG has already brought a fan favourite back, so why not bring back another? And finally, restore the feelgood feeling at Goodison Park.
