Not many clubs can match what Celtic and Liverpool produce on European nights.
Celtic’s trophy cabinet can proudly showcase its European Cup and Liverpool have won the Champions League an incrdible six times in their trophy-laden history.
That’s not the only thing Celtic and those on Merseyside have in common because they share an anthem that can be heard far and wide.
Especially on European nights, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is sung loud and proud, as it was no different as Celtic were beaten by Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
Before kick-off, you could hear the roar from inside Parkhead as ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ was belted out by the faithful.
Brendan Rodgers is lucky enough to have been in both dugouts – Paradise and Anfield – to witness and hear all of it in its glory.
Jamie Carragher says Anfield’s ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is better than Celtic’s
As you can imagine, with his Liverpool hat on, Jamie Carragher thinks that Liverpool singing and belting out ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is better than what those in Glasgow produce.
That was put forward to Rodgers and he is the perfect man to answer the question because he has experience of both.
But, the Irishman sat on the fence, answered like a true politician and also stated that Carragher would ‘of course’ pick Anfield, as he told CBS Sports.
“This is something between me and Jamie (Carragher),” said Peter Schmeichel. “We have been to Germany (Dortmund) and heard ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.
“He claims that ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is better at Anfield. Where is it better, Celtic Park or Anfield?”
Rodgers responded: “I think it’s just a preference, isn’t it?! Jamie will say Anfield, of course. I just think it’s a really special anthem.
“I have been really lucky to have managed Liverpool and Celtic. Both clubs sing it amazing and the passion behind it is superb.”

There is no shame in Celtic losing to Bayern, as this was the team’s first home defeat of the campaign and it came against one of the favourites to win the whole competition.
But it also shows that Rodgers is making progress on the elite stage and Celtic Park is now starting to come into its own.
Rodgers explained how the ‘raw passion’ and ‘special’ atmosphere sets Celtic apart from the rest of Europe.
Peter Schmeichel asks: “You said, ‘this club and the atmosphere in this stadium is special’. Now, you have been a Liverpool manager. Anfield is special.
“But what makes the atmosphere at Celtic Park so different to any other club?”
Rodgers responded: “I think it’s the raw passion. Celtic doesn’t have the money and the resources of a Premier League club. Or even a bottom Premier League club.
“But, in stature and status, this is a club that’s one of the biggest in the world and a big part of that is the support base. Just a real raw passion for the game and there are big expectations here. Nights at Celtic are special.
