Celtic’s exit from the Champions League still dominates the headlines after their brave performance against Bayern Munich.
The Champions League tie provided many talking points ranging from how Celtic almost recorded a historic win in Munich to how Bayern’s goal should have been checked by VAR due to a foul on Celtic hero Daizen Maeda.
All those talking points are moot because in the cold light of day, Celtic are out of the competition as the German club progress into the last 16.
Whilst Brendan Rodgers can remain proud of his Celtic players, Vincent Kompany’s reaction at full-time was somewhat different and it told Troy Deeney a huge story on how the Glasgow club gave the Belgian a fright in the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich boss was ‘genuinely’ rattled by Celtic
Speaking right after the full-time whistle had blown, Deeney spied Bayern’s manager and player’s celebrations with fans and it convinced the former English Premier League striker that Celtic left Kompany rattled.
Deeney told talkSPORT, “I feel so sorry for every single one of those Celtic players, staff, fan bases, travelling fan base who is listening and watching the game.
“Bayern Munich celebrating the way that they did genuinely shows you just how much Celtic had them on the ropes.”

“Sickener, genuinely a sickener,” continued Deeney, “The best players on the day were all from Celtic. Two or three players from Bayern Munich can hold their heads up, but the rest of them, just not at the races.
Vincent Kompany is celebrating because he knows they got away with one tonight. But for this Celtic team, they won’t feel like anything now, but they can be so proud of themselves, so proud of the performance that they’ve put in.
“I feel very sorry for every single one of those Celtic players because that was seconds away from being a monumental victory.”
Celtic exit the UEFA tournament knowing that they have given an excellent account of themselves over the ten games they have played.
With just three defeats, the Hoops have squared up to top clubs from Germany, Italy and England and gave every single one of them a reason to fear the Bhoys.
But now it’s over, Brendan Rodgers must refocus his Celtic players for Hibs on Saturday because if they want more of what they experienced this season in UEFA’s elite competition, winning the league must now be prioritised by the Hoops boss.
