Celtic got what they deserved on Sunday.
Many rocked up to Celtic Park hoping to celebrate the upcoming Premiership title with three points, but in the end, it was a day to well and truly forget.
Brendan Rodgers’ side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Rangers, including being 2-0 down inside 45 minutes, with the team showing no control in the middle of the park without captain, Callum McGregor.
A gloating Ally McCoist noted McGregor’s absence through injury and how it just made matters worse for those in green and white.
It meant that Arne Engels dropped deeper into the number six role and just couldn’t be effective, whilst Luke McCowan started his first Glasgow derby since moving to the club in the summer, and it showed.
As you can imagine, McCoist had a big smile on his face on Monday morning, but he was quickly sent a reality check as to what is happening in Glasgow.

Nobody with a Celtic persuasion will deny that Rangers weren’t the better side because their pressing caused issues.
But, as Celtic daft and talkSPORT presenter, Shebahn Aherne, put it to McCoist, ‘Celtic just have to settle for another domestic Treble’.
The League Cup is in hand, the Premiership title is in sight and the Scottish Cup should be defended, as McCoist shared his reaction.
There is nothing on the Glasgow derby, so we get to that another day,” joked Celtic fan and presenter Shebahn Aherne. “Thankfully, that one went under the radar.”
Ally McCoist added: “It was some game, as usual. The last three or four Glasgow derbies have been unbelievable. They have been brilliant games. Without a doubt, they missed Callum McGregor.”
Aherne asked: “Just talk to me about the league table before we move on, then?”
McCoist responded: “I haven’t seen it. I can tell you what I can guarantee, it’s three points closer than what it was before.
“They played very well in the first half. I think, you make a valid point, Celtic definitely missed Callum McGregor. There is no doubt about that. But Rangers played really well. They went for them. Came out of the traps and pressed them really high up. It could have been more.”
Aherne added: “I guess, at the end of the day, Celtic just have to settle for another domestic Treble.”
McCoist responded by pointing to the sky and laughing: “Ohhhh, you are only good as your last game (pretends to fire water re Cerny).
Celtic’s trophy dominance
It’s that time of year again, when Rangers start to win when everything is, more or less, done and the hype starts for next season.
It’s no fluke that Celtic are so far ahead and the trophies are coming in at the speed of light.
Rodgers alone has won three trophies since returning, not to mention what he achieved in his first spell or what is on its way.
That’s more than what the last three Rangers managers have won.
