The wonderkid has attracted the eye of Brendan Rodgers as he continues to impress in Premiership
Motherwell wonderkid Lennon Miller succeeding Callum McGregor in the Celtic midfielder would “make sense”.
That is according to Fir Park insider Stephen O’Donnell amid reports the Premiership leaders could revive their January interest in the 18-year-old as Brendan Rodgers is a massive admirer of the prospect.
Motherwell closed the door on a last-gasp exit in the winter window with Udinese also showing an interest in the rising star. After Miller was handed his first senior Scotland squad by Steve Clarke for the Nations League double header against Greece, speculation over his future in Lanarkshire has only ramped up.
And Well defender told Go Radio’s Football Show: “Similar to when you see Callum McGregor. I have heard some Celtic fans kind of being critical of Callum McGregor this season.

Then, he is missing for the derby. By all accounts, I missed the game, but Celtic were way off it and that’s when everybody says, ‘how good is Callum McGregor’.
Lennon Miller is a wee bit like that, in a way. When he is out of our team, by God, we are a different side and we miss him immensely and, for an 18-year-old, to be that integral to your side, that alone tells you how good of a footballer he is.
“He can mix it with the physical side of it. He has the technical ability I can only dream of. Can he be the best in Scotland? I don’t know. But I do think he has a right good chance if he keeps progressing the way he has.
Touching on Lennon Miller for the Celtic replacement, it would make sense, in that regard. He can play both positions. He could even adjust game time slowly. He can learn.”
One man who is already in the building is Jota – and Stiliyan Petrov reckons that the Hoops fans will see the best out of the winger next season. The Portuguese star returned to Glasgow’s east end for around £8million after 18 months with limited game time at Al-Ittihad and Stade Rennes.
The 25-year-old has netted three goals since his Parkhead second coming – but Petrov reckons the best is still to come. Speaking to the Sunday Post, he said: “It’s been a very positive campaign for Celtic. Domestically, they are close to winning it all and they also made strides in the Champions League.
Some of the performances in Europe were outstanding and everyone felt very proud of Celtic. Brendan wants his team to play entertaining football and also winning football.
It’s not always easy to deliver both but Celtic have done so in the past nine months. They have good options in the squad and bringing back Jota in January was a real positive. Jota will get better and better and he will make a massive contribution next season.
The Celtic supporters love him and there is a really strong relationship there. It’s a great feeling being able to give the Celtic supporters success.
“They back the team and it’s great to see them so happy. The next few weeks may well be very special for everyone at Celtic and you need to really enjoy success when it comes along. These are special moments to be cherished.
