It can be a difficult job for a Celtic manager pleasing every squad member.
Brendan Rodgers has to do what’s best for the club as they chase a Scottish Premiership title as well as another Treble with a Scottish Cup semi-final also on the horizon.
A consistent starting XI can also be key to finding a steady winning run but that can hurt those not playing regularly.
One player who has struggled to establish himself alongside his teammates has been Luis Palma who is currently on loan at Olympiacos.
The playmaker would be behind Nicolas Kuhn and Jota in the pecking order while Daizen Maeda will always still have a fondness for the wide areas, same as Yang.
Luis Palma does not want a Celtic return ‘under any circumstances’
The Greek side have a permanent option to sign Palma if they want after his loan and according to FutbolCentroAmerica, they are considering their stance now.
The same publication claims Palma has felt “mistreated” by Rodgers since the Irishman arrived and he doesn’t want a return to Celtic Park “under any circumstances” with a £4million move on the cards.
Rodgers has his favourites, it must be said, and Palma may not fit into that category.
But the idea of mistreatment won’t sit well with fans or the club, surely, given the fact that the gaffer is a winner and only ever does things for the good of Celtic as a whole.
Palma was allowed to leave on loan back in February and that was after Rodgers revealed his thoughts on the Honduran.
What Rodgers said about Luis Palma’s Celtic chances
As far as he was concerned, it was a deal which suited all parties. But even if it hadn’t gone through, Rodgers was pleased with Palma’s efforts professionally on the training pitch.
He said at the time: “Luis hasn’t played a great deal of late, but as I said, he’s still a part of this squad; there’s nothing else more.
“He’s a good guy; it’s been difficult for him. Players have come into his position where he’s played, and he’s doing really well. If you look at the goal return of Daizen Maeda this year, the pressing, all that side of it, and then he was out for a few weeks injured, then Yang comes in and does really well.
“He’s working hard every day, he’s a good guy, he’s well-liked within the squad. Of course, I can only pick a certain amount of players, but he will continue to work and might get the opportunity as we go along.
