On the Celtic way, there are currently four statues that stand proudly in front of the Parkhead entrance.
1967 European Cup legends Jock Stein, Billy McNeill and Jimmy Johnston have all been immortalised next to Celtic founding father Brother Walfrid.
It’s a tribute that will allow future generations of Hoops fans to remember the great Celtic legends and man who helped build the club and turn it into a European and domestic giant.
Undoubtedly, fans would like to see more people who have had a huge influence over Celtic’s successes paid tribute to in a similar fashion.
One suggestion made by BBC pundit Alan Preston will certainly raise the eyebrows of the Pakrhead support as he says he would love to have this person at Hearts who has been ‘brilliant’ for Celtic.
Celtic told they should build a statue for chairman Peter Lawwell
Peter Lawwell is a person at Celtic who divides the Parkhead support. Whilst no one can deny the success that was had when he was CEO and the current success right now as chairman, there will be a sizeable amount of fans who will fundamentally disagree with this view.
Preston told BBC Radio Sportsound, “I keep saying this. Michael Nicholson, who’s taken over from Peter Lawwell, I wish Peter Lawwell was the chairman of the Hearts for all the years, because all he cared about was his club, which was Celtic.
“He’s done a brilliant job. Again, the trophies that they’ve won under his watch. And I sometimes scratch my head when I think of the stick that Peter has had over the years.
They should be building statues for guys like that, because what a job they’ve done. £100 million in the bank. You’ve just rhymed off how many trophies they’ve won in that period as well, Richard.

One Celtic hero who deserves a statue before Peter Lawwell
Celtic fans will all have their own opinion on who does or does not deserve a statue outside the Celtic Way. Some will even agree that Lawwell should have one.
But before that idea is even entertained there should be discussion over Fergus McCann being immortalised outside Celtic Park.
The Hoops supporting Canadian saved the club from extintion and future-proofed the Celtic’s finances by building a 60,000 all-seater stadium.
In Celtic’s hour of need, McCann stepped in, saved them and helped make Celtic the club they are right now.
Many fans will want to start talking about McCann for a statue before even discussing anyone else.
